6 things to keep in mind after a massage
What to do and avoid after your session to make the effects of the massage last longer.
The few hours after a massage are important for making its effects last. Here are our therapists' tips:
- Drink plenty of water. Your body needs more fluid after a massage.
- Avoid a heavy meal straight away; choose something light.
- Skip intense exercise on the same day and give your muscles time to rest.
- A warm shower feels good, but you don't have to wash off the massage oil immediately.
- Slight tenderness the next day is normal and passes within a few hours.
- Come regularly: one session a month works better than an occasional intense one.
